If you value your privacy online, or are concerned about the security of your online transactions, you will need to learn how to take steps to avoid any one taking a peek at your activities. If you use Internet Explorer, it is easy to clear Internet history and keep what you do online from the prying eyes of everyone else.

If you use a personal computer which has the Windows operating system installed on it, then you already have Internet Explorer as a default browser. This makes it one of the most widely used browser's available. In this article we will learn how to securely delete all of the files which can compromise your security.

The first thing you need to do is open up Internet Explorer. If you will look at the top of the browser you will see a text link labeled as Tools. You will want to click this link which will open a drop-down menu. Scroll down to the bottom of this menu and select Internet Options.

Selecting Internet Options should make a box pop up. If you look at the top row of tabs on this box you will notice one says General. If it is not already selected please do so. Look carefully and you will see a button called Delete located midpoint of the box. Go ahead and click it.

You have to make a few decisions here before you hit the main Delete button. If you want to keep your Internet Favorites will have to select the very first option box. If you do not click this box, all of your favorites will disappear with everything else.

Your other choices you'll have to select are: Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History. Select the option box of each you would like to delete. You are browsing history can be discerned from all three of these, so it is best to delete them all.

If you want to preserve your passwords, do not click the Passwords box. All that is left to do now is press the final Delete button. This will clear Internet history on Internet Explorer and keep your browsing habits private.
